Kia Optima (12 - 16)

The Optima is the car Kia made to break into the larger family car segment. It is a highly competitive sector with some really big, established names such as Opel, Ford, and Volkswagen there. The Optima is stylish and is really good to drive. The interior is spacious in the front and back and the dashboard is cleverly laid out. Equipment levels are high too; you get alloy wheels, audio remote, cruise control, heated windows and mirrors, multiple airbags, remote locking and steering wheel reach/rake. There’s only the one engine: the 1.7-litre CRDi. It is highly efficient, pushing out 134bhp and has a top speed of 125mph. CO2 emissions are fairly low at 128g/km and fuel economy is impressive at 57mpg. This is a big, stylish car at the right sort of money and is a real alternative to the more established models.
